"The disappearance of hot hors-d'oeuvre was the result of the excessive development of women's skirts."  Baron Leon Brisse (1813-1876)

Have you ever had unexpected guests and wish you had something besides
cheese and crackers to serve them? Here is a great hot appetizer that you can make
ahead and keep in your freezer or emergencies -- or when you simply want to indulge yourself.

You'll need:

6 English Muffins - separated
1 jar Old English Cheese Spread
1 stick butter or margarine (1/2 cup) - softened
1/4 t. garlic powder
1/4 t. seasoning salt
1 T. Mayonnaise
1 small can crab meat - drained

Mix cheese spread, butter, garlic powder, seasoning salt and mayonnaise in a medium sized mixing bowl.  Add crab meat and stir until it is mixed in.

I sprinkle a little additional seasoning salt on top for color.

Pop the tray into the freezer and leave it until the mixture hardens.

Remove them from the freezer and cut each muffin half into fourths.

Pop the frozen appetizers into a resealable bag and put them back into the freezer until you need them.

When you need them, remove as many as you need from the bag, place on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet or a cookie sheet lined with an Exopat mat and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

(I love the Exopat mat because the cheese won't stick and cleanup is a snap!

There you go, an elegant, easy appetizer that is sure to impress your family and friends!

Serve your crab meat appetizers with a glass of white wine or champagne.

A nice accompaniment would be fresh vegetables and dip or a chilled artichoke with a lemon dip.
